Culture House of Dušan Jurkovič in Skalica
The Slovak culture house was built in 1905 in the centre of Skalica, according to a project by architect Dušan Jurkovič. The core of the building consists of a spacious theatre hall with wall paintings by Moravian artists Josef Uprka and Antoš Frolka. The facade displays a mosaic designed by Mikoláš Aleš. In the past, the apartment of Pavel Blaho was located on the first floor.
In 2005, the building underwent a major reconstruction both inside and outside.
The premises are currently used for cultural events. Permanent exhibition of the Záhorie museum and Gallery of Július Koreszka are located on part of the first floor.
